The R-FH Area Weekend: St. Mary’s Fair, ‘Mame’ & More

Well, the weather forecast for the weekend is not looking so great.

The National Weather Service, as of now, says there’s a 100 percent chance of rain on Saturday in the area.

So, that in mind, here are some fun indoor times for the weekend …

Friday

• Don’t forget that tonight is Hanga Loose Friday at Umberto’s in Fair Haven.

It’s a casual fun time to talk and, well, “hanga loose,” as the former pizzeria’s owner used to say!

Stop by from 7 p.m. on …

• A classic area fair, St. Mary’s Fair in Middletown, starts tonight.

The fair, held from 5 to 11 p.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church on Cherry Tree Farm Road in the New Monmouth section of the township, runs for six days and features food, games of chance, rides and more. The proceeds go to the church.

• And the classic musical comedy Mame is being featured at the Old Stone Church in the Navesink section of Middletown.

The Jerry Herman show, originally featuring Angela Lansbury playing the title role in the Broadway production, has a host of all-time favorite songs, including My Best Beau, We Need a Little Christmas and, of course, Mame.

Curtain time is 8 p.m. and tickets are $25 for adults, $15 for seniors, children and students. Doors open half an hour prior to curtain. Call 732-226-6131 for reservations.

Saturday

• Curtain for The Old Stone Players’ Mame is at 8 p.m. at Old Stone Church, Navesink. See the information above.

• If not rained out, St. Mary’s Fair will run starting at 5 p.m.

Sunday

• Get a little history in and be by the water. The Monmouth County Parks System is conducting Sunday tours of the historic Seabrook-Wilson House, otherwise known as the Spy House, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Bayshore Waterfront Park in the Port Monmouth section of Middletown.

• The Red Bank Farmers Market, featuring fresh area produce, organic goods, crafts, baked treats, coffee and more, runs from 9 a..m. to 2 p.m. in the Galleria parking lot.

• A matinee for The Old Stone Players’ Mame is set for 2 p.m.
