Police Report: $11.7K Theft by Deception, Theft, DWI, CDS, Criminal Mischief

The following recent criminal incidents and arrests were reported by Shrewsbury police. An arrest does not constitute a conviction.

Criminal Incidents

• There was a report of theft by deception in the area of Shrewsbury Avenue on Jan. 21. The victim reported that a known person used fraudulent checks to make purchases totaling $11,699.45.

Patrolman Derek Myers is investigating.

• A theft in the area of Shrewsbury Avenue was reported on Jan. 18. It was reported that $50 worth of property was stolen.

Patrolman Ralph Latham is investigating.

• There was a report of theft by deception in the area of Shrewsbury Avenue on Jan. 15. The victim reported that someone passed fraudulent checks to make purchases.

Sgt. Matthew Clark is investigating.

Arrests

• Gary Kowalczyk, 55, of Red Bank, was arrested in the area of Shrewsbury Avenue on Jan. 19 and charged with criminal mischief by Patrolman Daniel DeCristofaro.

• Brianna M. Terranova, 23, of Red Bank, was arrested in the area of Shrewsbury Avenue on Jan. 18 and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) by Patrolman Daniel DeCristofaro.

• Susan F. Carnes, 45, of Howell, was arrested in the area of Sycamore Avenue on Jan. 16 and charged with shoplifting by Patrolman Derek Myers.

• Jeremiah J. Stepney, 37, of Asbury Park, was arrested in the area of Broad Street on Jan. 15 and charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI) by Sgt. Tracy Polk.

• Kevin A. McEnough, 20, of Neptune, was arrested in the area Broad Street on Jan. 12 and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance(CDS) by Patrolman Joseph Barnicle.

** Police also reported that three people were arrested solely on contempt of court warrants.**
