Prosecutor: Pedestrian Dies After Being Hit by Car

A 59-year old woman has died as a result of injuries sustained from being struck by a motor vehicle early Sunday morning in Neptune Township, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni announced in a released statement.

Sonia Naranjo, 59, of Neptune Township, was walking in the area of State Highway 35, just north of Brockton Avenue in Neptune Township at approximately 12:02 a.m. Sunday morning, when she was struck in the southbound lane by a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze driven by Patrick Howe, 29, of Bradley Beach, Gramiccioni said.

The victim was pronounced dead at 12:42 a.m.

The driver, the sole occupant of his vehicle, was unharmed.

The crash remains under investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART), and Neptune Township Police Department.
