While Rumson-Fair Haven area folks know better than anyone that there’s nothing quite like a good locals’ summer, there are always great days on the beach in any season.
When you grow up nestled between the Shrewsbury and Navesink rivers and the ocean is a short ride, walk or run away, beaching it is never solely a seasonal jaunt. It’s a rite of passage, no matter what time of year.
So, with the advent of fall, we take a look back at a candid shot, courtesy of RFH’s George Day, of a few RFH girls of the 1970s, all of whom were in the Ladies of the Round Table club and had adventurous aspirations, as they contemplate life, or more like their adventure of the day, in a little pow-wow on the beach in Sea Bright.
The RFH guys were always known to frequent the beach in ski jackets with surfboards in tow. Whatever floated their gondola fun. That’s how RFHers rolled back in the day.
Do you beach it any time of the year? What’s your favorite spot to sit with a friend or to get some solace? River or ocean?
Thanks to George Day for another fabulous look back in RFH time!
