Prosecutor: Monmouth County Man Arrested, Charged with Child Porn

A three-month investigation culminated in the Friday arrest of a Monmouth County man who was charged with possession and distribution of child pornography, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni announced on Tuesday.

Angelo Curato, 25, of Eliot Road, Manalapan, has been charged with: one count of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child for distribution of child pornography; and one count of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child for distribution of child pornography. If convicted of both charges, he could face up to 15 years in prison.

Curato’s Friday arrest was the result of an investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Computer Crimes Unit. A forensic examination of Curato’s computer revealed multiple items of child pornography in a peer-to-peer file-sharing program folder. Peer-to-peer file-sharing allows an online user to share files with other individual users through peer-to-peer file-sharing software.

If convicted of the second-degree child endangerment offense, Curato faces a sentence of five to ten years in prison.

If convicted of the third-degree endangerment charge, Curato faces a sentence of three to five years in prison.
