Fair Haven Police Report: Theft, Fraud, Drug Possession, DWIs

The following March and April criminal incidents and arrests were reported by Fair Haven police. An arrest does not constitute a conviction.

Criminal Incidents

• A Brookside Avenue resident reported on April 23 that an person was attempting to file a false tax return in his name.

Cpl. John Waltz took the fraud report.

• An Oxford Avenue resident reported on April 22 that an unknown person or people had fraudulently obtained a BJ’s Wholesale Club and Kohl’s credit card with his name.

Patrolman Brooks Robinson took the fraud report.

• A Buttonwood Drive resident reported on April 12 that several vehicles in her driveway were entered by an unknown person or people sometime during the night. A credit card was the only reported theft at the time.

Patrolman Christian Hostrup and S/O Michael Volker were the responding officers.

• A Park Lane resident reported on April 12 that an unknown person or people had entered her vehicle during the night and stole a wallet, pocketbook, cash and gift card worth several hundred dollars.

Patrolman Jeff Jarvis took the theft report.

• A Hance Road resident on April 6 reported that while at the Youth Center Basketball courts $120 in cash was stolen from his wallet. Patrolman Eric Patton took the theft report.

• A Haggers Lane resident on April 5 reported a jewelry and gold coin theft. Patrolman Eric Patton took the report, and Detective Stephen Schneider is investigating.

• A Fair Haven resident reported on April 2 that his brother had fraudulently used his name and identifiers in Maryland during an encounter with law enforcement. The victim reported receiving seven traffic summons from Maryland in relation to the event.

• A Clay Street resident reported an incident of credit card fraud on March 24. The victim reported that an unknown person had made unauthorized purchases using the their debit card.

Patrolman William Lagrotteria took the fraud report.

• A Lake Avenue resident reported an incident of fraud on March 4. A bill from Sprint  was received in the amount of $3,686 for cell phone services. The resident reported that neither he nor his family members had been customers of Sprit Mobile.

The fraud report was completed by S/O Michael Volker.

• A Maple Avenue resident reported on March 1 that he had received a check from a closed account for a business transaction with a Middletown resident. After being contacted by Patrolman Dwayne Reevey, payment was made in full without incident.

Arrests

• Celeste G. Johnson, 49, and Cheryl R. Jackson, 48, both of Asbury Park, were arrested on April 20, charged with shoplifiting and transported to Monmouth County Correctional Institution, Freehold,  where they were held pending a first appearance. Patrolman Christian Hostrup was the arresting officer. Little Silver Police assisted.

• Conor Leister, 25, of Atlantic Highlands, was arrested on April 18 following a motor vehicle stop for speeding and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a CDS in a motor vehicle. He was released pending a Fair Haven Municipal Court appearance. S/O Michael Volker was the arresting officer.

• Carmelo Tripodi, 48, of Middletown was arrested following a motor vehicle stop on April 13 and charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI), refusal to submit breath samples, reckless driving, speeding and possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) in a motor vehicle. Two criminal charges were also issued: possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana possession of drug paraphernalia. Tripodi was released pending a Fair Haven Municipal Court appearance.

Patrolman William Lagrotteria and Sgt. Jesse Dykstra were the arresting officers.

• Timothy P. Osmulski, 32, of Tinton Falls was arrested on April 12 following a motor vehicle stop and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia by Patrolman Brooks Robinson. He was processed and released pending a Fair Haven Municipal Court appearance.

• William A. Gemmel III, 45, of Larkspur, CA was arrested on April 4 and charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI) following a motor vehicle stop. Two additional summonses were issued for reckless driving and failure to observe signal. He was processed and released pending a Fair Haven Municipal Court appearance.   Ptl. Lagrotteria was the arresting officer.

• Jordan Jacobson, 48, of Asbury Park, was arrested on March 24 on outstanding contempt of court (COC) warrants out of Manalapan, Allenhurst, Wall Township and Neptune City. A subsequent search of the defendant’s belongings found that he was in possession of heroin, a spoon and several hypodermic needles. Jacobson was charged and turned over to Manalapan on its warrant. He has a pending court appearance on the Fair Haven charges. Patrolman William Lagrotteria was the arresting officer.

• Frank E. Leonardo, 27, of Tinton Falls was arrested on March 15 following a motor vehicle stop and charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI), possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) in a motor vehicle, possession of less than 5 grams of hashish, refusal to submit to breath samples, reckless driving, speeding, failure to exhibit registration and insurance cards by Patrolman Brooks Robinson.

• Matthew J. Burke, 25, of Hazlet was arrested on March 7 following a field contact in a parking lot and charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and possession of (3) assist opening knives by Cpl. John Waltz .

Contempt of Court 

• Albairis Azcona, 35, of Edison, was arrested on April 30 on a contempt of court (COC) warrant following a motor vehicle stop. Azcona posted full cash bail before release. S/O Michael Volker was the arresting officer.

• Kelly L. Reed, 39, of Eatontown was arrested on April 23 on a contempt of court (COC) warrant following a motor vehicle stop. She was later released after posting full cash bail. Patrolman Brooks Robinson was the arresting officer.

• Rina M. Calderon, 32, of Neptune, was arrested on April 16 on a contempt of court (COC) warrant out of Ocean Township in the amount of $1,500. Calderon was released pending an Ocean Township court appearance after posting bail. S/O Michael Volker was the arresting officer.

• David S. Pryce, 44, Hazlet was arrested on March 31 following a motor vehicle stop on a contempt of court (COC) warrant out of Holmdel. He was transported to headquarters were he was processed and later released after posting full cash bail. Patrolman Christian Hostrup was the arresting officer.

• Fidel Velasco-Aguilera, 34, Long Branch was arrested on March 25 on a $5,000 contempt of court (COC) warrant out of Long Branch. He was processed and turned over to the Long Branch Police Department where he was subsequently transported to Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold.
