Prosecutor: Man Wounded in Drive-By Shooting; Shooter at Large

A Saturday night Monmouth County shooting, involving two men being shot at with one struck, is currently under investigation by county and local detectives, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni announced in a released statement. Authorities are asking for help from the public in finding the shooter or shooters.

The incident occurred in Neptune Township at 9:51 p.m. Neptune Township Police officers responded to the area of Myrtle and Stratford avenues where shots had been fired, the release said.

Moments later, Asbury Park Police officers located a male gunshot victim in close proximity to the shooting, it added.

A collaborative investigation between the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and both police departments revealed that the victim and another man were walking north on Myrtle Avenue in the area of Stratford Avenue when a black colored SUV, pulled up behind them, rolled the windows down and the occupants of the vehicle began shooting at the two, striking one.

The victim sustained a single gunshot wound to the right side of his chest. The two men ran from the scene, the release said.

The victim was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for treatment and his injury is considered to be non-life-threatening, it added.

No arrests have been made in connection to the shooting.
