It’s fall. So, it’s apropos to fall back in time with a couple of RFH guys and their skateboarding antics.
The Retro Pic of the (George) Day pays homage to two buddies back in the 1970s who loved nothing better than falling for a simple skate down a winding Rumson road.
Sadly, both of these guys, A.J. Bruder and Bill Caldwell are no longer with us.
Notice AJ’s T-shirt. Ahhhh. There was likely some Briody’s pizza in the future after that downhill ride with these two grimacing daredevils. Remember the take-out window at Briody’s?
But back to the skating … Kids nowadays are largely relegated to skate parks to skate. And there are none close by.
Back in the day, though, skaters skated just about anywhere with nary a negative spin on or danger thought of about the sometimes daring alternative sport.
Or they just skated past any obstacles to their sport of choice. And pay no attention to the lack of helmets and padding. They’re still smiling.
Can anyone guess where these guys were skating?

Thanks again to George Day for capturing and sharing this great shot of the past!
